ROTARY WING AERODYNAMICS

HELICOPTER FLIGHT ACADEMY

Progress from basic hover to combat insertions and emergency maneuvers.

Phase 1: Collective & Hover

Collective controls blade pitch and total lift. Raise collective smoothly to break ground effect at 5m, apply right pedal (E) to counter engine torque, and stabilize into a zero-drift hover.

Gentle collective input prevents vortex ring
Counter torque yaw with anti-torque pedals
Maintain reference points on the horizon

Phase 2: Hot LZ Flares

Approaching hot landing zones at 180+ km/h requires aggressive energy management. Pitch your cyclic back 35 degrees to flare and dump forward momentum, then catch your vertical descent with collective.

Bleed airspeed rapidly without gaining altitude
Practice tight rooftop & forest clearing pads
Fast troop deployment and zero-second hover drops

Phase 3: Emergency Autorotation

If your engine gets shot out, immediately drop collective to 0% to preserve rotor RPM during descent. Flare aggressively at 15 meters above ground to trade rotor inertia for a soft landing.

Keep collective DOWN while gliding
Maintain 100-120 km/h forward airspeed
Pull collective UP at the final 5 meters to cushion

CQB Room Clearing

Arma Reforger bullets penetrate interior plaster and wood. Slice your corners using Q / E peeks, pre-fire corners, and use flashlights/lasers in low-light interior killhouses.

Smooth Stance & Weapon Mount

Never shoot standing unbraced. Press C to rest your rifle barrel on window sills or rocks for zero recoil sway. Use Ctrl + Scroll to match barricade heights perfectly.

Long-Range Rangefinding

Use the calibrated range lanes on the airfield. Check target distance with binoculars or scope stadia reticles, tap PgUp / PgDn to zero elevation, and hold dead-center.
